Boys Junior Varsity Football, Boys Varsity Football · Juggs On a Roll Going into Homecoming Game

3 in a row, go Juggs go! For the first time in a long time, the Juggernauts start off the football season with 3 wins and no losses going into the homecoming game. With great performances so far, the Lloyd football team is on a roll with a sweet combination of tough defense, high flying offense, and superb attention to special teams which is a testament to the team’s hard work and to the great coaches putting together the game plans. Solid performances across the board coming from both veterans and youngsters of all position groups have sprung the team past their opponents, and elevated the team to scoring at least 42 points in every game so far, with points coming from a cast of different playmakers.

In the first game of the year, the Juggernauts blew past the Dayton Green Devils ending with a staggering score of 52-0. Defensively, Eric “Boy Boy” Bruner dominated the offensive line in the first series blocking balls and getting tackles and Jacob Bechtold had a big first quarter interception. Offensively, the Juggs could do nothing wrong whether it was Lashunn Townsend or Justin Durham rushing for big gains, or Quarterback Hayden Molitor connecting with the super athletic wide receiver Charles Gaines or senior Zack Riddle for big gains through the air. Bradley Creech and Charles Vance also had some very good rushing attempts, both scoring a touchdown. Also, Sergio Gutierrez showed off his big leg, hammering in a 42 yard field goal.

In what was supposed to be one of the team’s biggest challenges of the season, the Juggernauts crushed the Holmes Bulldogs, putting up a monster 42 points. After starting the game on a strong first quarter drive which was propelled by the Juggs big offensive line, the team never looked back in the first half putting up a staggering 28 points, and not allowing their opponent to score a single point. The Bulldogs came out strong in the second half scoring 18 points in the third quarter, before the game was blew open by a fumble recovery by defensive end Sergio Gutierrez leading to a touchdown pass to tight end Eric Bruner. The final score ended up 42-18.

In the Juggs most recent win, Lloyd blew out the Owen County Rebels 47-14. Despite an array of penalties causing three first half Lloyd touchdowns to be called back, the Juggernauts still went up 20-0 going into halftime. Lloyd came out refreshed and ready in the second half, putting up 27 more points. Touchdowns were aplenty in this game, whether they were coming off reverse handoffs to Charles Gaines, touchdown passes to Lashunn Townsend, long touchdown runs by Bradley Creech and Justin Durham, or quick passes to the massive tight ends Max Willett or Eric Bruner who rumbled and bumbled into the end zone.

Going into the homecoming dance, the Juggs are looking for another big win against a big and talented Gallatin County team at the one and only Cecil Dees field. Come out and support our Juggs in this bigtime matchup!!
